One advantage android has over iPhone is that it is available on all US carriers and comes pre-installed in many different types of phones, while iPhone was only exclusive to AT & T for 3 years untill Verizon joined recently.

But With release of iPhone 5 , Scene will be little different. According to Wall Street Journal, Sprint will also sell iPhone 5 along with AT & T and Verizon.

Now with iPhone on sprint the question is how much more competition do you get when you have two rivals rather than one.

Sprint had more than 52 million subscribers at the end of the second quarter, compared with 106 million for Verizon and nearly 99 million for AT&T, Landing the iPhone is a big win for Sprint, whose results have suffered without being able to sell the trend-setting device. AT&T has relied on versions of the Apple device to drive sales since 2007.

According to Richard Doherty who is director of the research firm Envisioneering Group,

The addition of the iPhone would help Sprint retain many of its customers itching to upgrade. The iPhone will also increase foot traffic in Sprint stores, which should help the company to sell high-margin iPhone accessories. “Sprint needs it, There are a lot of families that will embrace the iPhone.

Everyone knew that it was coming, It is too early for apple to release ipad 3, as apple has recently released ipad 2 and its sales are still going strong.

According to Digitimes..

US-based tablet PC players Apple has recently canceled its iPad 3 supply schedule for the second half of 2011, forcing other tablet PC brand vendors that are set to launch same-level product to compete, to follow suit and delay their launch; however, supply of the iPad 2 in the second half will still be maintained at 28-30 million units, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

Apple was originally set to launch its iPad 3 in the second half of 2011 with a supply volume of 1.5-2 million units in the third quarter and 5-6 million in the fourth quarter, but Apple’s supply chain partners have recently discovered that the related figures have all already been deleted, the sources pointed out.

Sources Believe that The main reason behind this delay is yield rate of the 9.7-inch panel that feature resolution of 2,048 by 1,536, since such panels are mainly supplied by Japan-based Sharp with a high price and Apple’s other supply partners Samsung Electronics and LG Display are both unable to reach a good yield.

Consumers are expecting major update over IPad 2, So it seems wise for apple to wait for appopriate time and adequete supply.

As we all know that there is an ongoing Patent war between google and its competitors, Just as we were thinking that google is down and out in this war by loosing nortel patents and war of words with Microsoft, Google fired back and this time google is well into game with a bang.

Google today announced that it is acquiring Motorola Mobility. The search and online advertising company is buying the company for approximately $12.5 billion (or $40 per share), in cash. The price represents a premium of 63 percent to the closing price of Motorola Mobility shares last Friday. Google had about $39 billion in cash at last count.

Now here comes the important part, According to PR

The acquisition of Motorola Mobility, a dedicated Android partner, will enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and will enhance competition in mobile computing. Motorola Mobility will remain a licensee of Android and Android will remain open. Google will run Motorola Mobility as a separate business.

The Motorola Company holds approximately 14,600 granted patents and 6,700 pending patent applications, worldwide.

Acquiring Motorola Mobility Gives necessary strength to google in order to compete with the likes of Microsoft, Apple etc.

It also brings Google at par with Apple, as google will now have its own hardware and Software…

We are not sure how other big android players like Samsung, htc etc will react to this, but we know one thing for sure that it is not a good news for Microsoft in terms of Patent War.
